Copyright Information Project
Hi everyone. I don't think a lot of you know me, but my name is Emery. Carolus and I have been working on the "copyright information project" for quite some time, and we created a detailed page for US copyright law and Canadian copyright law. I'm creating this topic in the forums so that t...

Theory Rules
I'm wondering if anyone can tell me (hopefully in a detailed way) the actual reason that the following harmony rules exist: 1. No parallel fifths or octaves 2. No more than a 6th above the upper three voice parts If anyone can think of more "rules", please also say them and explain "w...

Re: IMSLP Merchandise
Do you really think IMSLP will change it's name? To what? IMLP - International Music Library Project (We no longer just have scores) IMP - International Music Project (When we are a great resource for music in general) Music.org - When we become a complete monopoly on everything related to music :mr...

Re: IMSLP Merchandise
Others may have equal loyalty to IMSLP than me, but they do not show it physically on their bodies. That is a new level of dedication... But you've just confirmed what I said - you want to show more loyalty than the rest of us. Obviously, given your paltry contribution count over the past few month...

Re: IMSLP Merchandise
The reason is that, firstly, it supports IMSLP and shows my loyalty / dedication to the site. Are you trying to say you have more loyalty to IMSLP than the rest of us? This can't be right - let's require all sysops and other heavy contributors to get this tattoo. Better yet, let's have it branded o...

Re: IMSLP Merchandise
What I'm thinking is to literally have the IMSLP picture that appears on the mug all the way around my forearm. The reason is that, firstly, it supports IMSLP and shows my loyalty / dedication to the site. Secondly, I think IMSLP in general is a 21st century symbol for classical music. Thirdly, the ...

Re: IMSLP Merchandise
I've been planning to get an IMSLP tattoo... It's such a beautiful logo. I want all around my left arm.
You think the current mug design would work well? Maybe you could design something really nice just for a tattoo (maybe, or something like that).

Re: Good recordings of Villa-Lobos orchestral works
Hi KGill, I think that John Barbirolli, a highly respected conductor, made a recording of the orchestral version of Bachianas brasileiras No.4. I think I have a recording of it somewhere, but I don't remember how good it is. Villa-Lobos is a greatly underappreciated composer. I set up a page a few w...

Re: Backlog of copyright review
Hi everyone,
It is really completely my fault that there is such a huge backlog. I have been very busy over the past few days, but I will take care of the the properly submitted WIMA files and regular files tonight with Carolus. I'm sorry for falling behind.

Re: Orchestra parts for Peter and the Wolf
Hi Pipster, On IMSLP we try to block all files that are public domain only in Canada. The reason is that we do not want peope from the EU, for example, opening a document that is not public domain there. Since IMSLP has no way to know that you are from Canada by IP address, I'm afraid you won't be a...
