Uploading problem
I had a problem uploading files to all of the Cristóbal de Morales pages. I tried to upload all six movements of each of three masses, and I have more to do there. However, It said that some of my files had already been uploaded, and the original would be used. When I look at the page, the Gloria fo...

Renaissance score site
http://www.upv.es/coro/victoria/mas_partituras.html This site has many choral works of leading Spanish Renaissance composers, mostly Victoria, Morales, and Guerrero. There's basically no copyright information given, so I can't tell for sure if they're all PD. It doesn't help that I don't speak Spani...

This is a pretty minor issue, but I notice that on CPDL, when I enter a composer's name into the search box, I'm redirected to that composer page. On IMSLP, the composer page doesn't seem to come up at all in the results. Why is this? (I thought they used the same software)

CPDL
As someone who sings a lot of Renaissance music, I use CPDL a lot. I notice that there isn't a whole lot of Renaissance choral music on IMSLP, and it seems like there may be an advantage to having everything in one place (and thus making IMSLP more comprehensive). Is there any reason not to start co...

I don't think so. They say that everything there is public domain in the US. If it were their copyright, they'd say so. On the other hand... In a few cases, we have typeset and made our own editions of important works for which a suitable public domain edition was available. I wonder if they state w...

One of my past complaints about IMSLP has been the lack of orchestral parts. To bring back a suggestion Carolus mentioned earlier, the Orchestra Musician's CD-ROM Library seems like it could be a great thing for IMSLP, though I don't know if IMSLP would be very good for it. The collection for each i...

Not to be shallow and unsophisticated, but I really like some of the more laid-back Joplin rags, like Solace and The Easy Winner, if they're not below your difficulty level. Beyond that, the 3rd movement of Beethoven's 17th sonata is always fun. I also really enjoyed Brahms's Ballade in G Minor from...

Essentially, LazyAngel, the problem is that a specific edition may be significantly different from the original manuscript. So, the edition is copyright, not the actual piece. The copyright rules in this case apply to the editor in the same way they normally would to a composer. This is why a new ed...
