It would likely be blocked, as Moncayo died in 1958, so under Canadian law (life + 50 years) it would enter the public domain after the end of this year. As the work was first published in 1950 it's unlikely to be available in 2009 anyway, since it would remain under copyright in the US until 2045, ...

Hi Lyle, I’m going to assume the 95 year rule of the US holds, unless Carolus advises me otherwise :) Given that one of the librettists/translators cited by Carolus (Rurik Ivnev, born 1891) for Abesalom and Eteri died as recently as 1981, I suspect the copyright tag for Canada/US/EU would have to be...

Bump! Hi Feldmahler, will you please add to your list of things to fix: Re-typesets with significant editorial contributions should be able to utilise ANY of the CC licences when specified using the submission page, for the numerous reasons I have cited above, in respect of my own editions. They are...

There are also composers who deliberately put their works under the names of pseudonyms, to separate musical from other writing personas: e.g. real name/pseudonym Philip Heseltine/Peter Warlock Arnold Bax/Dermot O'Byrne One chose a pseudonym for his music, the other a pseudonym for his poetry. Reinh...

Hi Daphnis,
it's the brackets and diacriticals that break IMSLP URLs over here at the forums. Commas seem to work okay. The ones you always need to substitute are ( = %28 and ) = %29.

Hi Lyle, and all, Multiple cans of worms! Yummy... well perhaps for some... Tchaikovsky I tend to agree you that the suites ought to go with the main work. It does raise problems of cogency: if someone uploads files, is it going to be immediately obvious that they relate to the entire ballet or the ...

Composer names: change request, Hector Berlioz
Hello all. The above poll will run for a fortnight until approximately December 10, so if you have any knowledge and interest in one of France's greatest and most neglected composers, I would be interested in your comments and your votes. I have to confess to a bugbear about the representation of Be...

Hi Aldona, PM reply for you, too :) Done: I will post the completion later today, once I delete the pages in the first two movements that are not ready to be seen by the world in general. In the meantime I'm going to procrastinate (how I love not working Wednesdays). My pet theory about the B minor ...

Uploads: always PDF . A template has been designed for the purpose, so that the info format to go into the Wiki page should be as follows: {{ MozartNMA |Series|Workgroup|Extra Code info|Volume description|Plate #|Year}} which will magically do all of the formatting: e.g. {{MozartNMA| I | 1 | /Abt.1/...

Dear Aldona, (If I was being generous with 8/10, it's because you deserve an HD for your devotion to Schubert) :) You might want to take this to a personal message, but where do you work, in the city or in the `burbs? (I know you live out Healesville-way or somewhere equally picturesque, as that pho...

Sure, I admire the purist angle, but the pragmatist in me says to put the overture in with D 732, and have D 759a redirect to it. As I said, Schubert only separated out the two compositional tasks because of pragmatic considerations. Basically, it's one of those musicological decisions that Deutsch ...

Hi guys. Yes, this is really confusing. (And despite Aldona's comment above, I'm not sure I'd mark it 10/10 for complete accuracy, and I'm only going to give myself 8/10, because I didn't realise just how much work Newbould had done...) ;) ;) Brian Newbould (amongst others) has completed five of the...
