Damn good idea, seeing as we have several versions of Mozart’s Great Mass in C, or Fauré’s Requiem, which fall into the same boat, let alone the cases where the composer catalogue specifies multiple versions (one of Berlioz’s pieces goes all the way up to version F). Nice template.

Re: Add a new publisher
No real need as we don’t yet have separate categories for publishers. Type imslp.org/wiki/[insert your publisher’s name here] into your web browser, hit return, and on the target page, click the create button.

Re: uploading help please
Hi Ch. Small, I fixed your links to the main site (which were b0rked — for some reason, the forum software hates closing brackets in urls) but discovered another problem, the target page has been deleted. I see from the reason given for the deletion that the edition of the string quartet you uploade...

Re: 6 Trio Sonatas (Pla, José)
Please, I encourage everyone to let this sit for at least half a day or so — for if Davydov doesn’t take this up immediately, then I for one am not proposing to reach a conclusion before I go to bed (and it is already hearkening to midnight here). As Kalliwoda points out, the tags on one of the page...

Re: Main Page graphic re-design
My original idea, I will have you know, was to hotlink the ornamental capital A to the Petrucci page — and to have the explanation there. Perlnerd’s modification of the idea was to tooltip it — which is to have a floating comment appear when your mouse lingers over the image. And faced with a page w...

Re: 6 Trio Sonatas (Pla, José)
Hi Notenschreiber, thanks for your reply — I was not entirely sure before posting whether it would help the discussion, or hinder understanding. Firstly, with 40,000 works on the website stretching across ten centuries of musical history, a search mechanism that can filter and categorise works is al...

Re: Magazines and Periodicals
No grand thoughts from me at this stage. I would like to see how some of it would work on a miniature scale (a pilot!) before full-scale attempts to upload very large quantities of material. It would give a better idea of how fine-grained we would need to make categories/pages/uploads, and how the m...

Re: Main Page graphic re-design
Sure. Just make sure the CSS involved doesn't result in a dotted line or something underneath the glyph when you add the alt tag. Something like: "This ornate glyph of the capital letter A features at the head of the very first printed book of music, the Harmonice Musices Odhecaton, which was p...

Re: Main Page graphic re-design
You can also see the original, here. :-)
Hmm. Would it be possible to hotlink the graphic to the page for the Odhecaton? We could put a special explanatory note at the head of the target page to explain why this particular glyph is providing an elegant incipit to the main IMSLP page.

Re: 6 Trio Sonatas (Pla, José)
Back on topic. What evidence is there for joint attribution of the Pla sonatas? I have no objection to the extra tag so that the work can exist under either category, but just wonder whether this is an example of assuming joint authorship is a lazy way of admitting that the cataloguers don’t know wh...

Re: 6 Trio Sonatas (Pla, José)
Dear Notenschreiber, with the greatest respect, please drop the attitude of passive aggressiveness. It’s not conducive to an intelligent discussion of the issues at hand. There have been numerous discussions and disagreements between members of the tagging team regarding the correct categorisation o...

Re: Commercial links box
For those without a native grasp of English (and familiarity with its rhetorical devices) the wording is perhaps superior, however viewed in context it is also incorrect. The commercial recordings section usually results in a collection of links to amazon.com, so the sentence really should read: “Le...

Re: New Work Page layout?
I think it would be possible to use tables, but at the cost of having to use trickery to get around the “breakage”. It would be extremely painful to implement. Tables can only go on a work page after the {{fte:imslppage}} declaration has finished, which relegates them to the very bottom of a work pa...

Re: Magazines and Periodicals
You’re going to hate me saying this, but anyway. Publishers’ pages – which are doing a very useful job in holding vital information like succession of plate numbers, and other historical facts – should also have associated categories, which publications naturally enter when a work has a particular p...
