Servers in USA
Hi, Is it possible to set up a server in USA for hosting pre-1923 works that are NOT PD in Canada? The capacity and bandwidth requirement of this server would not be very high since only a small subset of works fall into this category. Feldmahler: Will your university (in USA) be willing to host thi...

Re: university-based servers for IMSLP (and temporary OP FTP)
you're right, unless if a university want to *take ownership* of the project as a whole, it will not possible for them to host the site.......... although a convervatory / law school would gain considerable publicity if it takes ownership of IMSLP (or at least inject a considerable proportion of sta...

Re: Orchestral Parts Project
Basically for the OP project, we need to: 1. rip volume 1-10 2. strip logo of all files from all volumes 3. assign copyright status for each work and eventually upload to the IMSLP server (by the central admin) I have already modified Horndude77's script for automated processing of full volumes. The...

Re: university-based servers for IMSLP (and temporary OP FTP)
have you approached the university which gave you legal advice while we were in trouble with Universal Editions? I think that university would also want to get their name onto our project and therefore may be more willing to host IMSLP............

Re: trying to get Horndude77's ruby logo removal script working
Oh, I found out that you need to add:
# encoding: utf-8
at the beginning of file_mapper.rb
then everything works

University-based servers for IMSLP (and temporary OP FTP)
currently are the IMSLP (and the OP project) contents on a private server or university server? If we can put these things on the university servers, there is a good chance that university may put the contents up for free (such as the university which give us legal advices) Also since most of our cl...

request: OM Vol 8-10
I have noticed some volumes have shown up on the ftp server (though I don't know by whom): all of volume 6 (except for some violin parts I believe), volume 2 bass, bassoon, cello, and clarinet, as well as all cello collections. The logos have been removed from these and have also been uploaded to t...

Re: trying to get Horndude77's ruby logo removal script working
Thanks! This is working now...... but I think we should update README so that users can get the script running properly. The other problem is that my Ruby can't handle unicode: For example in file_mapper.rb: abc@Q6600:~/imslp/scripts$ ruby1.9 clean_om_pdf.rb BIZ01.pdf Cello clean_om_pdf.rb:5:in `req...

trying to get Horndude77's ruby logo removal script working
Hi! I am running Ubuntu 8.10 on Intel quadcore I have tried the script, and installed everything (ruby, rubygem, libleptonica 1.6, libtiff4 etc) However when I try to run the script, the system seems to fail to find the TIFFFdOpen function despite libtiff4 is already installed abc@Q6600:~/imslp/scri...
