Re: Chausson Op.2
I don't know if this is a definitive answer, but the worklist in Grove Online shows the Mélodies as Op.2, and Jeanne d'Arc without any opus number.

Re: Your input on the work info template
Here's a good question that should generate some fascinating and useful discussion -- let's kick around the word 'sonata'. It is a genre, to be sure, but in the history of Western Classical music, it has had an incredibly wide set of definitions that can render it unclear as a label for a genre. Yo...

Genre categories. Your views wanted!
The heading really says it all. We're looking at ways of improving the descriptions of "genre" used for each work on IMSLP. The current genre categories and sub-categories can be found here http://imslp.org/wiki/Browse_by_genre , but it's been pointed out that, for example, the terms "...

Re: Your input on the work info template
Thanks for taking up those suggestions, Leonard. I hope the changes to the order of the headings will also be helpful

Re: New Volunteer?
If you're interested, then a very worthwhile task would be to check the "General information" boxes at the bottom of each work page, to make sure that the details there are correct and complete.

Re: How come I can't download anything ?
Something seems to have changed for me overnight, as I can only download IMSLP scores using a proxy as from this morning. I'm also in the UK, but haven't had any problems downloading until today

Re: Alphabetic sorting of letters with diacritics
That seems logical, on the basis that the Mediawiki software appears to sort its lists by the English alphabet (regardless of the defaut language chosen). The {{DEFAULTSORT}} command will sometimes have to be used to prevent accented characters appearing at the end of the list, particularly in compo...

Re: Jan Bella sonata (1885)
The Czech national library dates this edition to 1954, which in itself isn't a problem. But the wording on the title page suggests that the piece has been revised with new fingerings by the editor, Rudolf Macudzinski (1907-1986). If these editorial interventions were as significant as they sound, th...

Re: Difficulties with diacritics in composer names
Aha! I had no idea there was a distinction between a composer search and a general search (obtainable by hitting enter instead of clicking on one of the search buttons). Ever since I started using the IMSLP (a couple of years ago!), I could never understand why searching for e.g. "Bach" d...

Re: Difficulties with diacritics in composer names
Using the {{DEFAULTSORT}} tag serves two purposes: 1) To make sure the composer appears in the right place in alphabetical lists 2) To allow for searches on names without diacrtics, which will pick up on the form shown in the tag. For example, searching on "Zelenski" (using the "Comp[...

Re: Tchaikovsky orchestral version of The Four Seasons
Some confusion here. Tchaikovsky wrote a cycle called "The Seasons", but this was for solo piano only: http://imslp.org/wiki/The_Seasons%2C_Op.37a_%28Tchaikovsky%2C_Pyotr_Ilyich%29 Vivaldi wrote a cycle of concertos for violin and orchestra popularly called "The Four Seasons": ht...
Re: Libretti
As the creation of the libretto is part of the compositional process for the opera/oratorio/vocal work in question, it woud seem appropriate to include it at on the relevant work page. Maybe at the end, such as: * Full Scores * Vocal Scores * Parts * Arrangements and Transcriptions * Librettos (&quo...
