Re: Links have disappeared on the George Onslow page
I just think that one should find links under "compositions" to all works of which scores are available even if some of them are parts of collections. I'd like to have a work page whenever a score of an individual work is posted. Or alternatively one might include links to work pages and/o...

Re: What has happened to my submission?
This mirrors a thread here (http://imslpforums.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8756). I have to say that I find it terrible if the rules are not clear. Either we have collections all on one page or else we have pages for individual works at least in those cases where individual scores are available. And...

Re: Links have disappeared on the George Onslow page
I am still not quite certain about the rules for this. Are they like this? 1. Several works under the same opus number get an entry under "collections". 2. If there are any scores of only one of those works they get a separate entry as individual works under "compositions". 3. Th...

Re: Links have disappeared on the George Onslow page
Reading all this and also Carolus's definition of a collection I am still left ignorant of the reason to include sets under the same opus number as "collections". Why not just list opus numbers on the work page and add the number of works in parentheses where there are more than one in the...

Re: Links have disappeared on the George Onslow page
Ok, found it. I don't understand the need for this housekeeping exercise but at any rate: If it is done shouldn't it be done with some consistency? In the Onslow case: Opus 3 and opus 11 are absent on the work page and only there under collections. Op. 14 are listed on the work page as individual tr...

Links have disappeared on the George Onslow page
Two links to works that used to be there are no longer on the page. This concerns: - Violin sonatas op. 11 - Piano trios op. 3. Both of these are sets of three works. They are now linked neither together or individually. I did not check if any other links have gone missing on the page but there are ...

Re: Upcoming changes
This is all true as far as it goes. But I do think--as I wrote earlier in this debate--that the uproar is not really because of the specific measure taken. It is after all truly minor in its effects on users. I am convinced that this "pay or wait 15 seconds" approach to fund raising has tr...

Re: A question about queues for transposing instruments
Thanks for your quick response! Luckily this is the easy way with the software I am using.
BTW: I have been spelling cue 200 times so I won't forget.

A question about queues for transposing instruments
I stumbled over this question when putting together an orchestral score and parts. Many instruments have long rests and queues are essential. Normally this is not hard to do. But how about transposing instruments? Do you give the queues 1) in concert pitch or 2) in the transposition of every particu...

Re: Fanny Mendelssohn
In the case of Fanny I think it is appropriate to list her under her married name. Her husband was the only man in her life who encouraged her to publish her works. Both her father and her brother resisted the idea of a woman (their daughter / sister nota bene!) making a living as a composer with a ...

Re: File extension for compressed XML files
I am sorry I have to ask for details that everybody probably knows: What is the extension of a zip archive that IMSLP will accept? And what is the difference between a compressed file--which my screenwriter produces directly--and a zip archive?

File extension for compressed XML files
This is actually two questions: :?: :?: 1. I tried to upload a typeset score along with its source file in compressed XML format. The Pdf was accepted, the source file was not. I suppose it was because of the extension that my score writer gave it (mxl). So what is the accepted extension, please? 2....

Emilie Mayer String Quartet e-minor: Upload of improved parts. Shouldn't the old versions be deleted to save storage?
I just uploaded a newly formatted set of parts for my typeset of this quartet. These parts don't have any impossible page turns the way the previous set had (by making the scale 10% lower and the margins smaller). In addition they have much smaller file sizes with equal print quality. It seems waste...

Re: Upcoming changes
Characterizing Carl Simpson's recent post to this thread as "arrogant and defensive" seems both inaccurate and unnecessary. I found his short presentation of the site's history to be both interesting and helpful; his outline seems entirely consistent with his long and admirable record of ...

Re: Was passiert mit IMSLP?
