Franz Danzi Horn Sonata, Op.28

I have the masters music edition of this piece which lists Günter Hausswald (1908-1974) as the editor. Looking it up on worldcat the original was published by Hofmeister probably in 1958. Does this fall under the 25 year scientific edition rule? Is there another reason why this is PD worldwide?

4) They aren't as pretty. I'm aware that with Lilypond, the music can be made to look really good. However, it usually isn't nearly as good without quite a bit of work - text/dynamics tend to overlap with notes, etc. You should try the newest versions of lilypond. Text and dynamics are automaticall...

For compressing a monochrome tiff this works fine for me: convert $1 -compress Group4 $1 The problem is extracting the images from the pdf. There is pdfimages which creates a bunch of pbm's. Unfortunately you lose the original image dpi. If you know that you can do something like this (thrown togeth...

The main goal of IMSLP is to gather public domain scores. I think it's best keeping that the main focus. Mutopia does have a higher cost to entry because submission happen through email and you actually have to enter the music. (There has been some discussion recently about making it easier to updat...

Canto Serioso

Would any of you have information on the source of this edition: http://horndude77.googlepages.com/Nielsen-Canto_Serioso_horn.pdf I believe the publisher information is "Copenhagen: Skandinavisk Musikforlag, 1944." This is after Carl Nielsen's death in 1931. I haven't seen an editor listed...

No need. I'll be posting orchestral scores to all the Strauss tone poems in a few weeks time.
Amazing! How do you do all this so quickly? Do you have an army of people helping you scan? (I just re-read your sibelius post and I guess you do). In any case nice job!

This is usually a manual process of extracting the images from the PDF then removing the offending block with an image editor. If it's in the same place consistently then it can all probably be automated. I'm sure imagemagick can blank out sections of an image. (If it's not in a consistent place we ...

The work to do this just hasn't been done. I agree that it would be very useful. Though it would require some disambiguation pages for many composers.

Another sorta unrelated note: will 6 be on IMSLP?
I believe it was added before the down time. I don't remember if I added it or not. It is among the university of michigan's online scores and I at least have it converted to PDF here locally. If it's not there let me know.
