Re: Improving low resolution images downloaded from some librari
I've let the Google Books people know about the problem with mixing and matching grayscale and b&w in their music scores. They try to automatically figure out which parts of a page are text, image, and color image (there might be a few other categories also) and segment based on that. So it's th...

Thanks! Though I've switched to using leptonica now. It's much faster and gives similar results.

Re: motzart clarinet concerto.
There are a couple options: - If you feel ambitious you could write out the part. (I find it strange that the Mutopia score doesn't include the solo part. I would be nice to see it added there. In fact I might just do it.) - if you have access to interlibrary loan try to order a public domain editio...

Re: help instrumnts!!!!!!!
Another possibility: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bass_trumpet
Placement in the score would make sense. Though being written in bass clef would not. Perhaps there's such a thing as a bass cornet.

Re: help instrumnts!!!!!!!
Looking at the score, corno basso is definitely __not__ a horn. It isn't near the horns in the score It's written in bass clef and unison with the 'Bassi' often. (Are these 'Bassi' tubas?) It's in between cornets and trumpets. I'm betting it's something related to a euphonium. Also I agree that the ...

Re: help instrumnts!!!!!!!
By the way, the reason they don't write the two high horns as 1st and 2nd is that the notes are too close together on the staff, so it's confusing to read. Instead, they put the 4 horn parts on 2 staves, and 1 and 2 are on the top staff, with each note a comfortable distance apart, one high and one...

Re: Mozart Horn Concerto No.4
Here's the deal, though. If you're actually going to do a new typeset, anything that is from a public domain source - like Mozart's manuscript, early manuscript copies, early prints, etc. - is fair game for you to include in your new typeset edition. The only things that you cannot include are orig...

Mozart Horn Concerto No.4
I'm wanting to make an edition of this piece for Mutopia. Unfortunately the B&H score is very different from every recording I've ever heard and from the Kling piano reduction. The NMA score for this piece seems to be what I want, but of course this is not a PD edition. I've found two possible e...

Re: FTP Server
Great! I'm glad you built leptonica to make it easier for others to use. The README looks good. I'm sorry I don't have much time to review in depth right now. A couple other observations from working with the script: - Look at line 63 of clean_pdf.rb. I added a pause so that the files could be check...

Congratulations! Thanks for letting us know here. Beyond the new staff are there plans to acquire a faster scanner? I remember an old post here where you mentioned that you were using flat-bed scanners.

Re: I wanna be like you (monkey song) - Louis Prima
If you just want to play the melody by yourself I'd recommend just listening and writing down the tune. It's good listening practice. To buy the music you could have a look at sheet music plus to see what they have.

I'm not a university student. I've done a quick look through the asu, uofa, nau and phoenix libraries and they don't seem to have them. They'll need to be found elsewhere or bought instead.

I haven't looked into ruby 1.9 much yet so thanks for fixing that encoding gotcha. I'll fix this and the README later today.

Re: trying to get Horndude77's ruby logo removal script working
Yes, it's not straight forward unfortunately to create a working leptonica shared library. I haven't been able to get the standard leptonica shared library make target to work. So I just convert the .a file into a .so. ar -x liblept.a gcc -shared -ltiff -ljpeg -lpng -lz -lm *.o -o liblept.so.1.60 Al...
